How to Measure Your Head for a Hat Grab a soft measuring tape (or use a string and a ruler). Wrap it around your head, placing it about 1 inch (2–3 cm) above your eyebrows and just above your ears. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, and keep it level all the way around. Note the measurement where the tape meets. Tip: Measure twice for accuracy. If you’re between sizes, sizing up usually gives a more comfortable fit. Hair matters! Do you wear extensions? Did you shave your head? You will need to size up or down.
